Inside play

It’s been in the high 90s and humid humid humid here, so Nora has mostly had indoor playtime this week. She hasn’t minded too much, thankfully.

We broke out the bath crayons this week, which she loved.

She also enjoyed coloring on plain paper. She's really into art these days!

Nora hasn’t been sleeping too well this week (probably because of her canine teeth coming in and the beginnings of her two-year molars) and she’s clearly been tired a lot. Here’s what happens when a toddler that usually gets up at 7 AM wakes up for the day at 5:30:

Just fyi, we’ll be traveling back from visiting my family next Sunday night, so next week’s post will probably be a day late. Have a good week everyone!

Fun Saturday

Nora had a fun Saturday this weekend! In the morning, she had a play date at the Please Touch Museum with her new friend Betsy. Then, after her nap, we took her to the park.

Nora liked playing with the trains at the museum. She’s really into trains these days.

And just for fun, here’s a link to a video of Nora pointing out various parts of her body.

Jayappi spent some time with Nora this week before leaving for India this last Friday.

Nora has a thing for puppies. This particular puppy took a shine to Nora from a distance.

…and for your enjoyment, here’s a video of our precocious little toddler.

Summer fun

We’ve had a rough couple of weeks here, which is why there wasn’t a post last weekend. Sorry about that. However, Nora has been enjoying her summer, so we do have some pictures to share this week!

Nora liked the nice FAO Schwartz employee offering her a toy bird (and yes, this is the second time we’ve taken her there in 2 weeks… we don’t usually go to toy stores that often!)

Hot hot hot

It was a really hot weekend here, so we spent a lot of time hanging out indoors in the air conditioning. We managed to make it outside a little bit though.

dscf7760.JPG
On Friday, Prakash decided to mow the lawn before it got too hot over the rest of the weekend. Nora was very insistent upon helping him, so he mowed the whole lawn with her in the wrap. She really enjoyed it, but he was pretty sore afterward!

dscf7739.JPG
Nora also went for a ride in the bike trailer on Friday night. Here she is trying to figure out how to remove her helmet.

dscf7808.JPG
You would think that the 96-degree heat would be enough to convince Nora to get in her baby pool. Alas, it was not. Here’s Mommy trying to show her how much fun it would be.

dscf7818.JPG
Nora eventually got in, but she remained unconvinced of the joy of swimming. She loved the pool last year, so hopefully she just needs some time to get reacquainted.

Summer’s here!

We’ve had a few nice days with temperatures in the 80s… and Nora’s been taking full advantage of the sunshine!

She got soaked, but she loved it.

We’re definitely looking forward to more warm weekends!

Nora visits the airport

Jaya was leaving for India today, so Nora got to have her first trip to an airport (in this case, JFK). On the way, we stopped off in Queens for her to meet some family friends of Prakash’s family:

Once we got to the airport, she wanted to run everywhere…

dscf7396.JPG

… so I put her on my shoulders to contain her. She thought it would be funny to cover my eyes while I was trying to walk.

dscf7394.JPG

As you can see, she’s feeling much better than she was last week. Me and Prakash, not so much - we both caught whatever respiratory thing that she had. Hopefully we’ll all be 100% by next weekend.

Mother’s Day

Nora didn’t have a very good Mother’s Day, unfortunately. She spent her afternoon like this:

sicknora.jpg

After an hour and a half of inconsolable screaming and crying, we called the emergency number for her pediatrician and she was diagnosed with croup. Our Mother’s Day picnic plans will have to wait for another weekend.

However, she had a good week before today! Here are some pictures of her helping Daddy with weeding and planting in the backyard:

She really, really likes to help with the yardwork.
